i tried adding a moon for a light source, but the wallpaper ended up looking
really cluttered, so i left it out. any suggestions on making this background
better would be much appreciated.
i was trying to go for something simple, but i couldn't really get the blood
spatters to blend correctly on the shoji...any help regarding how to
"layer" things over would be nice ^^"
not sure which bg works better or if i should just try something else...anyway,
constructive comments are welcome...
it looks a lil bit empty...the little sparkly effect is nice, but it seems to be
the main focus of the wallpaper while belldandy is just "there" in the
background...
perhaps it might be better to concentrate on one character and one image
(probably the dragoon form).
the background effects are a little distracting -- not to be mean, but the way
the circles are placed resembles a mickey mouse head...i'd suggest more of a
fire background for dart...i forgot what shanna does, but based on her color,
perhaps a greenish bg or leaves & wind background might be nice....
also, the font doesn't quite match the composition...
if you want to do a silhouette wall, then you shouldn't have the girl in the
front...however, the background you have chosen works better with the girl in
the front...
if you leave both in, the silhouette may be considered ghosting...i think you
should choose one or the other...
if you go with the silhouette image, you should soften the edges a lot more and
maybe not make it so black...i'd also suggest putting some mist (and place
butterflies in front) around the shadow to help blend the bg more....
you could also try something else like putting the colored character in the
middle of the water and make it look like she's standing/emerging from the
water...you can try taking a look at this water wall: Beachgirl's by semanga
Quote by holychikinI am not gonna sit
here and tear apart your work Like the other people on this site do. I am sure
it took you some time to do it. Your time means something... so I say: Good
work.
"tearing apart your work" is such a bad connotation...this thread IS
for tips and advice on how to improve wallpapers in progress or that have been
deleted...
i think the ice could be redone to look more frosted...it somehow looks out of
place too...maybe you could make the whole bg icey...also, the font looks a bit
wierd since it looks like the letters are melting ^^"
i like it! a few more suggestions...if you could somehow smooth out the edges of
his clothes, and then take out the black outlines on his hair on the right side
(i know that the black outlines blended in on the left ^_^)
anyway, *edits post* in addition to what blusake said...the left side looks kind
of empty...her idea of extending the bar bg to fill the entire wall is a good
idea...however, you could also edit the bg to another scene and have them in
front of a (stone) wall or wooden stairway/porch by a beachhouse or
something...
also, if your going to play with textures, there should be some
consistency...add texture to your bg since the character image is texturized
^_^"
i like it except for the big "ghost" image on the left...perhaps you
could take that out and add some ashes or something to make like the fire is
burning up ^^"
well...blusake pretty much covered everything...overall i like your ideas, but
it needs some work...
i kind of liked the first wallpaper (i like the scan) except for its
background...i just don't think sparkly stars are befitting for gaara...you
could easily make your own sand background and add a texture to it since the
scan is texturized...
i liked the 2nd wall, except for all the text...also there's a small spelling
error ^^"
as for the 3rd wall, you should concentrate on a single image...putting little
cutouts here and there makes it look messy and out of place...
you really need to work on your extraction of maya...don't try and pass it off
as an outerglow...as for your background, it's just one picture that was been
copied over again -- you can even see the edges
i would suggest that you create your own background for starters....
Quote by bluSakeI'm not really an expert
at abstract/elemental walls, but just my 2 cents.
The contrast between vectored color areas and the rough manga lines is somewhat
distracting. You may want to try blending those areas in more via blurring
&/or smudging. Some texture may also blend the smooth colors with the rough
lines better.
Also, if you're interested in retouching your fire, here's a tutorial that you
may not have been directed to: Ningen's.
Good luck.
thanks for the tips blusake! i've redone almost all the outlines and added more
haze to make it look like he's engulfed in the flames...im going to post it in
the main gallery....
i like the concept....however, maybe you might want to take out the moon
hellsing image...it doesn't quite fit with the background....the moon just seems
so out of place...but i like it otherwise ^_^"
like fluke and kagoem said, focus on one and clean up your image...i think the
kamui on the right might be best...you have a nice shadow for him too. the big
kamui on the left has too much texture from the scan plus the "streak"
which makes for poor quality.
also, if you meant to leave in the texture on kamui (left), the texture doesn't
match the one on the other kamui (right).
when you have textured characters, and the background is smooth (no noise, no
texture) it doesn't blend as well.
i'm not sure if this could be the reason...but i've noticed a trend of deleted
walls for "ghosting" (taking the same image or another one and blowing
it up to fill space in the background).
also, i noticed that there's a texture over the character image (also on the
background character) while the rest of the background is "smooth"
(without any texture).
you may want to try and work on your background a bit without using the blown up
character image ^_^
Quote by bluSakeHave to say the chara
images still look very low quality, very posturized. Also, it's a bit strange
that one frame is in flames and the other isn't.
and all of those wallpapers were accepted by Minitokyo, but Flaming Motif was
deleted. The fact that my wallpaper received a positive comment within four
hours of being posted also makes me very upset that it was denied. Thank you for
your time.
i think it may have been deleted since it doesn't seem like any changes were
made after receiving blusake's comment. the frame on the right isn't in flames
while the other is burning...the character images aren't very "clean"
looking although i know you made them look the way they are now...
if it is of any consolation -- i've had a wallpaper get added to favorites and
still get deleted =P
thanks marlinwahoo for the outerglow idea which i added...also added a
"burning wind" to help blend the bg more...im pretty much out of
ideas...*sighs*
As others have said, the wall looks and feels empty/missing...since you're going
for a "wedding" feel, perhaps you can add more flowers/vines. for
instance, you could put a white arch or a gazebo with roses/vines/flowers that
she could be standing under. i don't know, there's lots of things you can choose
for your bg...
If you have "HB" lead...you should be fine (HB is basically the
darkness/hardness of a #2 lead). If you have 2B that is like #1 (very dark/soft
lead). 2H would be the light/hard lead.
also, if you haven't bought any lead to refill your pencil, the lead that comes
in your pencil when you first get it is HB.
i took all my SATs with mech pencil using HB lead...by the way, if you do get
some wooden pencils, dull ones can be good because you can fill the bubble in
faster =P
Thanks for all the responses and tips ^_^ I finally got around to fixing it
today, so here's the link for the updated wallpaper:

EDIT:
old version of wallpaper has been removed

i've added some flames in the front to "complete" the reiatsu's
encirclement. it does blend the background better...although the wallpaper looks
a bit more busy now...
i fixed the outlines -- like the ones below his sleeves. also changed some
shadowing.
hopefully it might be worthy now to post in the main gallery? o_O"
blusake - Thank you so much for helping me! well, here's the wallpaper with the

the character) in multiply mode:

first, did the blue bg come with the image? just placing an image onto a white bg will be considered low effort...
you should extract the image and create your own bg. if that blue bg is your creation, then you should extend it so it fills the whole wall
if you want to do a silhouette wall, then you shouldn't have the girl in the front...however, the background you have chosen works better with the girl in the front...

i would also remove the daisy and replace with a sakura flower instead...
